Where to find pattern dimensions

Most indie pattern PDFs include a page that lists the finished dimensions of the assembled pattern, or you can find the dimensions in the pattern's instructions or on the brand's website. If not, you can estimate from the largest pattern piece: a full-length dress is typically 55–65" tall, a bodice alone 18–22", a pair of pants 40–50".

If the pattern is already set up for home printing (tiled A4 or Letter), these are the dimensions of the assembled pattern — not the individual pages. The page count this calculator gives you will match (or be close to) the PDF's page count.

Assembly tips

Assemble row by row rather than page by page — tape the full top row together first, then join rows. This is more accurate than assembling from a corner outward.

Use the printed registration marks (crosses or corner marks) to align pages. If the pattern doesn't have them, align by the printed content itself. A lightbox or window makes this much easier.

Trim the margin on the right edge of each page (except the last in each row) and the bottom edge of each page (except the last row). The overlap area on the trimmed edge should match the content on the neighboring page — if it doesn't, check your print scale.
