Recommended order

1. Size Finder — determine your starting size by body measurements

3. Ease Check — measure the pattern and verify the ease suits your fit style

Why sewing sizes differ from store sizes

Ready-to-wear sizing varies wildly between brands and has shifted over decades (a modern size 8 is much larger than a 1960s size 8). Sewing pattern sizes are based on body measurements, not brand vanity sizing.

Most people are a different sewing pattern size than their store size. This is normal and expected. The Size Finder maps your actual measurements to the right pattern size across 11 brands.
